Wanted - tallented bloggers and copywriters We’re currently using Fiver to recruit talented bloggers and copywriters to help spread the word about XML sitemaps and promote our service, but this isn’t cost effective longer term with our very limited funds, so we’re looking to our great user community to help out. We’re primarily interested in English bloggers, but if you are able to take our English content and produce high quality copy in Mandarin, Spanish, Hindi, Arabic or Portuguese we’d also be interested to hear from you and put you on our contact list.

Thank you for 2016 We just wanted to say thank you for all your support during 2016, it was an “interesting” and sometimes challenging year, but we made it through. The main event of the year was when our then hosting provider 123reg deleted ALL their customer’s virtual services and had no backups or recovery mechanisms. This left us and many similar businesses to recover from file backups. Major hosting outage - 123reg

Recent user feedback Ever so often we like to share some of our user feedback. Here’s a few recent comments : _Your service is efficient and easy to access for a general webmaster. _ _Thank you for making it soooo easy for me to generate a Sitemap for my website. I’m a novice when it comes to website creation. I’m learning to do it all myself. Google said that it was a great idea for me to give them a sitemap for my website, but I had no idea how to do that.

Latest online sitmap updates Over the last month or so we’ve been making some tweaks and changes to our sitemap generator website. New : Upgraded website to Zurb Foundation 6 New : Improved website performance New : Minor cosmetic / content updates to our website Fix : Sitemap Image url issue. Fix : Contact us form issue Fix : Donate form New : More reliable email notifications We also made one of the last changes to our infrastructure separating out the email server to use Microsoft Exchange online.

Website diagnostic tool We sometimes get contacted by people with questions about why their sitemap wasn’t generated as expected , indeed in some cases returning very few or no pages. In most cases the answers are to do with the structure or format of their website and how it responds to our spider. To help users understand and address these problems we’ve started to automate some standard checks we should normally do manually to help resolve these issues.

Sitemap Infrastructure Upgrade On the 16th April our hosting provider 123-reg made a catastrophic blunder deleting 100’s of customer virtual servers. They have since been unable to recover the servers and many reported permanent loss of data. You can read more about the outage and how it unfolded on our previous blog and on the BBC news website. Having been through a rocky period we are pleased to say that we are now coming out the other side of the disaster having relocated our services to Microsoft Azure.
